ETONNE HOLISTIC FACIAL CONTOURING
Chin Surgery
Also called Genioplasty
Chin surgery is a surgery that cuts the chin bone (osteotomy) to adjust the length, forward–backward position, and shape of the chin to the facial proportions. If the chin is short and blunt, the cut bone is moved forward to lengthen it, and if the chin is long or protrudes forward, it is shortened, moved back as needed, and fixed, with V osteotomy and T osteotomy modified or combined to suit each person's face shape and the position of the nerve line. Augmenting the chin with an implant is also performed. At ETONNE in Gangnam, Seoul (Gangnam-daero, Nonhyeon Station), the surgery is performed by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kim Jaegon.
The true value of beauty revealed by a sharp and distinct chin.
Facial contouring comes with high expectations and worries, making the beginning crucial.
Considering even your feelings, ETONNE analyzes properly from the start and cares for you thoroughly.
Distinct Chin.
We deeply consult each individual's face shape, preferred image, and the position of the nerve lines
to find the most suitable line for them. By considering the overall shape for the maximum effect with minimal changes,
we create a face shape with clear lines that are also natural.
The Ideal Chin
The various methods of chin surgery are variations or combinations of V osteotomy and T osteotomy.
ETONNE suggests the most fitting method for each individual, completing faces with ideal proportions through the high-level skills of
facial contouring experienced plastic surgeons and advanced equipment.
If the chin tip is blunt and short, the bone at the chin tip is advanced forward to extend its length,
while for a protruding chin, the bone at the chin tip is cut to shorten it, moved back as needed, and then fixed.
Both the length and position of the chin tip are considered, proceeding with customized surgery.

Standardization
Check the remaining bones
after surgery.
When unnecessary bones are removed, there is no place
for soft tissues to settle, leading to sagging or deformation,
ultimately resulting in an unattractive facial line.
Removing only the bone that is truly necessary, without unnecessary resection, and leaving it well shaped
helps reduce side effects and create a natural facial line.
At ETONNE, our top priority is building trust based on patient safety and satisfaction. From transparent process sharing before surgery to professional care afterward, we are committed to providing high-quality medical services.

ETONNE
FACIAL CONTOURING SPECIALIST
ETONNE's dedicated face specialists
Doctor. Kim Harkyoung
“ Surgery is done for happiness, you know. Your face is part of your body too.
It's not just about looking pretty right now;
it has to be safe and usable for a long time.
It should still be aesthetically pleasing and functional 20, 30 years down the line. ”
Doctor. Kim Jaegon
“ The textbooks tell you how to cut the bone.
What's needed is that plus alpha.
You've got to safely reduce the bone and accurately identify any other causes.
That's why in contouring surgery, it's not just about the bone; you have to skillfully handle the soft tissue too.
After all, the face isn't just made of bone. ”
Precautions
Swelling and bruising may occur after surgery, and how long they take to subside varies from person to person. A scar remains at the incision site, and in rare cases bleeding, infection, inflammation, or left–right asymmetry may occur, which may require additional treatment. When the chin bone is cut and moved, the sensation of the lower lip and chin may become dull, and in rare cases, a nerve may be injured and reduced sensation may last a long time, or the moved bone may not join in place or may join out of position, which may require surgery to fix it again. When an implant is inserted, the implant may move or be felt. Please tell us at your pre-surgery consultation about any medications you take, including blood thinners such as anticoagulants, as well as any medical conditions and whether you smoke. During recovery, please avoid alcohol and smoking and attend follow-up visits as scheduled. Please make your decision after you have been fully informed of the risks and of alternative options. Results and recovery vary from person to person.
Who It's For
When the chin is short and blunt, making the lower face look short
When the chin looks long or protruding
When the chin is wide and blunt, so the jawline does not look slim
Yes. When the chin is short and blunt, the chin bone is cut and moved forward to lengthen it, and when the chin is long, it is cut to shorten it, moved back as needed, and then fixed with plates and screws. At ETONNE, we discuss your face shape, the image you want, and the position of the nerve line together, and decide how to modify or combine V osteotomy and T osteotomy.
Can the sensation of the lower lip or chin change after surgery?
Because sensory nerves run around the chin, the sensation of the lower lip and chin may become dull after surgery, and in rare cases, a nerve may be injured and reduced sensation may last a long time. At ETONNE, we check the position of the nerve line during the consultation and examination to decide the extent of the osteotomy.
Where will the scar be?
A scar remains at the incision site. The incision is made inside the mouth and closed with dissolvable sutures, so there are no stitches to remove. How the scar settles varies from person to person.
Can it be done together with square jaw surgery or cheekbone reduction?
Chin surgery can be done on its own, and it is also planned together with square jaw surgery or cheekbone reduction as 3 Part Facial Contouring. Because the chin shapes the proportions of the jawline and the whole face, at ETONNE we analyze the facial bones and soft tissues together and then decide at the consultation whether to combine them.
What are the anesthesia, surgery time, and recovery schedule?
The surgery takes about 30 minutes under general anesthesia, and you go home the same day without hospitalization. The inside of the mouth is closed with dissolvable sutures, so there are no stitches to remove, and taping is removed after about 7 days, after which daily activities are possible. About 2–3 follow-up visits are needed after surgery. How long swelling and bruising take to subside varies from person to person.
