Redness, swelling, and bruising may occur at the injection sites; bruising and swelling usually subside within 1–2 weeks, but how long this takes varies from person to person. Small needle marks may remain at the injection sites, and how much they fade depends on your skin condition. Because muscle movement is reduced, depending on the area injected, your expressions may feel awkward or stiff for a while, you may feel less strength when chewing food, and your expressions may look different on the left and right. After treatment of the forehead or between the brows, your eyelids may feel heavy or look droopy. If injected into a deeper layer, you may feel tingling or reduced sensation for a while. In rare cases, headache or dizziness, a hypersensitivity reaction to the anesthetic cream or medication, infection, or inflammation may occur, and additional treatment may be needed in some cases. Pigmentation, in which the skin turns darker, may develop where inflammation occurred, so please apply sunscreen after the procedure. How much effect appears and how long it lasts vary from person to person, and after a certain period the effect wears off and the area returns to its original state. Please tell us at your pre-procedure consultation about any medications you take, including blood thinners such as anticoagulants, as well as any medical conditions, allergies, whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and whether you smoke. For the period advised after the procedure, please avoid alcohol and saunas, and contact the clinic if anything feels unusual. Please make your decision after you have been fully informed of the risks and of alternative options. Results and recovery vary from person to person.
